I need some help

Ok, mummies....I need some help. Katelyn turned 13 months last week and she is still nursing 6 times a day. I have tried to skip one feeding, but she was not happy about it......AT ALL!

As you know, I am not an "on demand" feeder. Both of my girls nursed every 3 hours during the day......7 am, 10 am, 1 pm, 4 pm, 7 pm, and 9:30 pm. When Joslyn was nursing, I had to stop cold turkey because I got pregnant. I am high risk, so there was no option. So the whole weaning thing is new to me.

How do I lessen her feedings? I have tried to stop the feedings that she tales less of......but she was not having it! Now she takes more of the feedings I tried to eliminate! Is she a booby baby, or what?!

Does anyone have any ideas on how to help?

THANKS mummies!

  1. I pretty much nursed on demand, though it was sort of on a schedule... like first thing in the morning and before bed. Is she drinking from a cup. If she isn't then you need to work on that. If she is, then when she wants to nurse offer her a cup of milk. I think it helped me that when he nursed I called it milk and when I gave it to him in a cup I called it milk. Also, he was a bit "nurse to sleep" boy. So I started nursing him earlier in the evening so it wasn't to put him to sleep. Mostly, though, he led the charge. I noticed his nursing sessions got a lot shorter. I might have helped matters by not offering it as often. You might also hide any pillows or other nursing items when it is not a time you want to nurse. Also, you might need to up her solid food intake.
