Cookies, Then Milk review and GIVEAWAY

CONGRATS WIFANDHUBS!
We all have the same fear.....it might hit you one day, be an every day fear, or you might think of it and forget it. What fear am I talking about? Not producing enough or drying up!
(Scarier than the Friday the 13th movies, right!?)

3 weeks ago, my family and I were involved in a car accident. Luckily our girls were not harmed, nor was my husband. Sadly..... I can not say the same for me or my car. Between the stress of it all and the amount of pain I was in..... I began to have fears my supply was dropping. Kit Kat seemed over all happy and normal.... but when it got closer to her feeding time she got increasingly grouchy and demanding. Naturally, my crazy mind went right to my breastmilk supply.

Rewind a few days prior to our car accident..... I came across Cookies, Then Milk. I contacted Nicole, founder of Cookies, Then Milk and asked her if she would be interested in doing a review and giveaway. (WOW am I glad I contacted her!!!) She said "yes" and we both dove right into giveaway happiness! I have to say I have not done a product review before that was more time appropriate than this one!

What I found to be so wonderful about Cookies, Then Milk was how nice and generous Nicole was. Within days we had racked up 20+ email responses (she is super fast to respond! Love that!) She told me I could pick out THREE different products to review! I could pick the flavor and product!!!! Oh man.... that was dangerous!

They also come shipped as mixes. Which means all you have to add is "wet" ingredients and you get to make these fantabulous, breastmilk boosting treats AT HOME! Which means it can be a "family" event. You can get your kids involved and teach them about baking!

Another reason why I just love this company..... days before my car accident Nicole had already agreed to do a review and giveaway, all she had to do was get my package together. The DAY she was shipping my package out she found out about my car accident and added 8 pre made lactation cookies for me! Her response as to why she added those at the last minute.... "I knew you may not have time to bake right away, so I thought a few pre-baked would help =)" (her exact words.) Such a sweet gesture that stuck with me.
(The little box was filled with the "extra" cookies.)

Cookies, then Milk not only offer lactation cookies...... but also lactation muffins, lactation waffles/pancakes, lactation brownies and lactation grab and go cereals. They have variations that include sugar free/Vegan, Organic, Dairy free, Gluten free, and original! They sooooo have something for everyone!

So after drooling over their website... I picked the Cowboy cookies (a new flavor), Dairy Free Blueberry Muffins, and the Waffle mix.

First thing we made............ (oh come on.... you know me!) COOKIES!

(Kit Kat kept saying "mmmmmmm" while Pooker was mixing)

(Future baker in the family! I mean come on... look at that form! hehe)

(Pooker had to get it "just right" as she said)

OHHHHHHHHHHHH is all I can say! The new flavor, Cowboy, is so delish! The salty/sweet combination is perfect! My husband even agreed! (I had to swat his hand out of the cookie jar a few times!) Now I did "smoosh" the cookie dough with the back of a spoon... which is why they turned out flat.

Next up were the waffles. I tossed in some fresh peaches, butter and syrup and went at 'em! They were more filling than "regular" waffles and seemed to hold back the "morning hungries" longer.
(YUMMMMMM)

Finally..... the dairy free blueberry muffins. The batter was thicker than I thought it would be. It was more of a cookie dough consistency, so I was a bit concerned. But wow! When I took my first bite I realized my concern was un warranted. The dried blueberries were HUGE and there was A LOT of them. (see the size of the blueberries??!!)

(Pardon the santa muffin cups... they are left overs! hehe)

The waffles and muffins have a more "healthier" flavor than the cookies do. The cookies are sweet and taste more of a cookie.... while the waffles and muffins have a more healthy grain flavor. BUT they were all super yummy!

With all three lactation treats (cookies, waffles and muffins) I made the whole package and froze each in individual freezer bags. With the cookies I just took out what we wanted and left the rest in the freezer. For the waffles I took out the amount we wanted and tossed them in the toaster. For the muffins, I put what we wanted in the microwave to thaw out. Each time....... perfect results! (I have to admit.... I did drown my muffins in melted butter! But I just can't help it.... that is what I always do!)

Now the big question.... did I notice a change in my supply? Now.... I do not pump, so I can not give you an answer in ounces. But what I can say is that two days after following the suggested serving size I woke up feeling "fuller" in my nummie makers. Kit Kat also decided to nurse just a little bit longer than normal as well. Now this might be that my Mummie's Nummies were sweeter than normal (from the cookies.... man they are so good!) but either way... I DID notice a difference. A welcomed difference that helped us through a stressful time.

So are you drooling too? (I bet you are!) Wondering how you can get your hands on these tasty (and helpful) treats? WELL....... Cookies, Then Milk is offering you a special deal! That's right Mummies! How awesome is that?! During this giveaway, Cookies, Then Milk will also be offering Buy 2 mixes Get 1 mix FREE!!!

  5. Pink Question for Entry #1:

Totally struggled with supply in the very beginning... my son was actually dehydrated as my milk hadn't come in after a whole week. I was scared and desperate and would try ANYTHING! I busted out the fenugreek and Mother's Milk Tea... but I would have LOVED some cookies! This is also great as all the recipes that increase lactation include ingredients I don't just have lying around ;)

  7. Oh! I'd love to win this!!! What a great company and product! I actually had an oversupply in the beginning and struggled with that but, as Emmaline is getting older, I've noticed I struggle to keep up with her needs when she's having a growth spurt or needs more "comfort food" when she's having teething pain.

  10. I have always struggled with my milk supply. I have PCOS and have tried metformin, reglan, (both with great argument to my drs begging for the drugs after my own research), fenugreek with no results and now I am using fennel seed with great results :)

Did I struggle with supply? At first I had too much. Now my milk is regulating and like everyone else I worry that because my supply is dropping that I will suddenly not have enough. I can see a difference in pumping. I no longer can get 3 oz out of each side. Which worries me if/when I return to work.

  31. Yes. I struggled with supply with my first from the start (because she was taken to the nursery for the first night and they gave her bottles!) I struggled with it with my second because I became pregnant with our third and I couldn't keep up.

  42. Have you struggled with your breastmilk supply?
In the beginning when i was home with my son my supply was fine. It wasn't until i returned to work (month 3) and needed to pump. He was eating too much from the bottle and for about 4 months I had to pump extra just to keep up with him. Around 6-7 months when we introduced foods I was able to catch up to him and now my supply is doing good. Still on a day-to-day basis but I haven't had to supplement with formula in over 4 months! :)

  44. For the supply question...

I've had a few "bad days" pumping in the office but I try to nip it in the bud by getting a little extra rest when I notice it!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I have struggled. I struggled with my first and didn't know where to turn for help, switching to formula after one month and regretting it to this day. I've struggle with my youngest as well, although this time around I've got experience and resources, as well as confidence on my side. And now we're 3 months in and I'll struggle on until she self-weans, hopefully after 2 years.

  49. I struggled with my supply. I have twins who were 2 months preemie. I also have PCOS which has caused many problems in itself! I mostly pump because my twins have latch problems and I struggle to be able to meet with a lactation consultant as my husband is active duty and gone a lot! My twins are 4 months old this week and I have to fight each day to get them all the milk I can. I haven't had to supplement with formula yet but I have taken donated breastmilk so that they would always have the best!

  56. I had milk supply issues with my daughter and couldn't breastfeed that long with her. When I found out I was pregnant with my son I was determined to make it work!! So I did so much research and so far we've been successful! :) 4 months strong!! I do feel my supply isn't up to par bc he feeds every 11/2-2 hours. I took fenugreek and helped some. I'd so much rather eat Some cookies!!! ;)

  64. Anonymous said...Entry #1 - Answer to pink question - No, thankfully I've never had a problem with my supply. I nursed my 4yr old for a year and now am nursing my 6mo old. I have always had that fear though that the supply would not be enough - fortunately for me I've not had a problem as of yet. Hoping for another 6mo atleast of good milk supply although I feel as though my supply has been "different" (don't feel as full as much) this time than with my first.
