Facebook: Breastfeeding BAD, Rape GOOD

When did land in the Twilight Zone? When did it become "okay" to rape and not okay to breastfeed? When did a group called "You know she's playing hard to get when your chasing her down an alleyway" (who at this moment has 205,845 fans!) become "entertaining, just as telling a rude joke won't get you thrown out of your local pub, it won't get you thrown off Facebook."

The Facebook Gods have decided that this page is NOT in violation of it's "Terms", which are as follows "You will not post content that is hateful, threatening, or pornographic; incites violence; or contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence." Facebook has decided to keep this page (which glorifies rape)  up and running and has made this comment: "Groups or pages that express an opinion on a state, institution, or set of beliefs - even if that opinion is outrageous or offensive to some - do not by themselves violate our policies."

What about a page that talks about engaging in something that IS ILLEGAL????!!!!! How is that "okay" in Facebook's eyes.... but will delete COUNTESS amounts of breastfeeding pictures and support groups?

Personally I love this comment from the article "Facebook is a significant social force and it gives quite a worrying picture of how they view women if breastfeeding is considered obscene and rape is not." This woman, who wanted to remain semi anonymous, GETS it. What is it about breastfeeding that gets Facebook's panties all in a bunch? Why is it that a page that "promotes" a crime against society is accepted and breastfeeding makes the obscene list. What does that say about the world today? OR better yet... what does that say about the Gods at Facebook?

I have not been raped. I am so thankful that I have not experienced that act of being violated. I can not even begin to imagine what victims of rape and sexual abuse have to face. THEN to find out that Facebook allows this group to remain....... I can only imagine the pain that can cause.

If you are someone you know has been raped or sexually assaulted, please get help. Tell someone. Don't feel as though you did something wrong. I urge you to gain the strength to put that POS that abused you, violated you, "Chased you down an alleyway", in prison. Perhaps one day the Facebook Gods will share the same cell.

**Oh and I would like to address the grammar error in the group title. The "your chasing her down the alley" part...... it should be "YOU'RE! I mean really if you are going to make a page like this.... make sure you have it correct.**

  1. Yet more evidence that Facebook is a puerile teenager disguised as a social network.
