Breastfeeding in public

"Foto" Friday is a play on phrase for Photo Friday. I take a million pictures each week, well maybe not a million...... but A LOT! So I thought it would be nice to share my favorite picture from the week. Each Friday, I will post one picture and each "Foto" will include a small caption. Some pictures will be related to breastfeeding, while others will not. I hope you enjoy "Foto Friday!" Do you like "Foto" Friday? Well come on over to our facebook page and our Facebook Group "Mummies Nummies Group" and join in! I love seeing your "Fotos."

Walking through the store this week, I look down and see this.
I ask Kit Kat "KK, whatcha doing?"
She simply says "Feeding my baby."
Oh... good girl KK. Good girl!

Yes, folks.... it IS that simple!

Breast cupcakes

Sometimes I think the creative side of my brain goes into over drive. Most times it happens during the "quiet" times of my day. You know those times:  rocking your Nummie Lover to sleep, waiting in the parent pick up line, the few precious seconds of quiet when you are peeing.

Well I have been thinking about some "Nummie Maker" theme treats for my local Mummies for our next Breastfeeding Circle meeting. I wanted to do something special for them and something that would be pretty funny.

Breast cupcakes suddenly popped in my head! Who doesn't love cupcakes AND it is a breastfeeding group... so we all love our breasts!  I went on a "Google image" research binge. To my surprise, I found A TON of images! I was like "Oh this will be easy!" But then I realized not ONE of the images explained how they were made! Total BUMMER!

SO I did what ANY Mummie would do... I asked my Mummies! And  in Mummie fashion.... you all came through! So I decided to take step by step photos and show you how I created (what I now call) Nummie Maker Cakes!

Step 1:
I purchased what I needed to create my vision. Everything else I already had.

Step 2:
I baked the cupcakes and allowed them to cool. While the cakes were cooling, I mixed up the Caramel frosting creation and set aside. Once cooled I used my cupcake cutter thingy and made a hole in each of the naked Nummie Maker Cakes. They also have "Mocha" frosting creation for a darker color!

Step 3:
I pipped the Caramel frosting into the hole. (I am not Betty Crocker, I used a zip lock bag with a small hole in the bottom corner as my pipping bag. Worked well!) Kinda looks like a leaking Nummie maker!!!! Right?!

Step 4:
I "dressed" the Nummie Maker Cakes with the Butter Cream frosting. I also used my "pipping bag" (still filled with the Caramel Creation frosting) and made a small circle... which created the areola. I then used one of my girl's plastic spoons and swirled the "areola" into a nice circle shape.

Step 5:
I added a nip (or a Butterscotch chip) in the middle of the Caramel areola.

VIOLA! A Nummie Maker Cake for all to enjoy! Nnnnnn Nnnnnn NUMMIE!

Feel free to try and share!

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month. A month that I hold close to my heart as I have shared our story of pregnancy losses  a few times.

You cannot tell  by looking at us, but we are a family of 7. Three members of our family can not be seen, but they are constantly felt.

This month I decided to ask  my daughters to help light our three candles. This was a first for me, as I have always done this alone. But I wanted to include our girls and explain to them why Mummie does it every year.
To share the memories of who are not here.
To let our girls know how special they are to have three angels on their side.

Here is the very first picture of me with ALL of my babies... A photo I will forever cherish.
We have three candles to help light our way, three bright lights to help us see the path before us.
And three flames to help warm our hands when they feel the coldness of being empty.

Lima Bean
Baby Heart
Twin

Our three bright lights.
Our three angels.
Our three beacons on a dark night.

May all the babies who have been lost, feel the love their Mummies and Daddies have for them. May they ALL see the Wave of Light in their memory. May they ALL hear as we whisper their names into the wind and know they are still loved and forever remembered. May our tears wash away the pain and our hearts beat in their memory.
May they look down upon us and feel the love our arms could not offer.

Undercover Mama review and giveaway

Finding the right shirt can be so frustrating. There is a LONG list of "must haves" in order for a shirt to be listed as your "all time FAV!" Here is a list of my "must haves":

There is the feel of the shirt. Not rough and not too soft.
There is the comfort test. It can not be too tight but it can not be loose. It can NOT ride up or scrunch down. It has to feel like I have nothing on... but in fact I do.
It has to be long in length... but not too long that it looks like a night night dress. And not too short that it is the same length (or shorter) as the waist of my pants.
I also LOATH when my bra shows. Even more so when first thing in the morning my bra does NOT show... but as the day goes on more of my bra peeps out. URGG I can not stand that!
It MUST keep its shape ALL day long!

Now when I was breastfeeding ALL the time.... it was hard to find the right shirt... without buying some baggy shirt that was semi breastfeeding friendly. When I found a shirt that worked (well) I bought as many as they offered.  But still.... I found that one of my "must haves" were  not met. The bra peeking one!

What is the answer? Well I am so happy to say there is AN ANSWER! There is that "must have" shirt that meets ALL the requirements. I want to introduce you to Undercover Mama! Under Cover Mama is the MUST have for any Mummie (and get this.... breastfeeding OR not!) Oh I know right! You so read that correctly! You do NOT have to be breastfeeding to enjoy (and yes even LOVE) your Undercover Mama! Okay, okay... I know. You are puzzled? Why on earth would you wear a breastfeeding shirt if you are not nursing (or are like me and currently nurse 1-3 times a week?) Because it is ROCK-TASTIC AWESOME!

What makes Undercover Mama different is the fact that their shirts are made to connect TO your bra! (GENIUS! Where in the breastfeeding universe were these when I was nursing 12 times a day?!)

But HOW do they connect, you ask? Well I am so glad you asked! Let me explain. You have two ways to use your Undercover Mama. You can slide the "hook" into your strap OR you can use the "loop" the plastic loop through your nursing bra. (Notice the black "hook" above the plastic "loop.")

Undercover Mama sent me their Black Lace Undercover Mama shirt. I picked this one because it was one of their longer shirts (due to the lace), I love me some lace, and black is well.... BLACK! First off, let me say that I got my shirt two days after I picked it! I just LOVE getting treats in the mail... pretty much makes any day better!

I ripped the package open and found this sweet little bundle of heaven sent fabric inside. I carefully took it out of the package (being heaven sent... you must treat it with care) and placed it on the floor.

Then I wasted No time and put it on!

You can see that I am using the "hook" feature (yeah I just so happened to have on a black bra.... coincidence.... I think not!) I do not know if I can say enough about how much I love these shirts. I have worn it a few times and have said "I love this shirt" each and every time. To the point Mr Mummie has replied "Yeah, you mentioned that already."

Now I mentioned the length.... and how much I LOVE it! Now, I am not one for single photos (of myself) but I felt this was a great time for one. (yes... those are Jeggings I have on.... cut me some slack... I had on a long shirt today and I was rocking my Jeggings!

See what I mean by length! LOVE IT! I wore a white bra so you could see how it all works. No peak a boo bra here, my friends! NOPER!

Here is a back shot or as we call it a "booty shot".... I never said I had no booty. The top stays in place and will not "scrunch" down. But it is not tight. It is seriously the BEST shirt ever made!

So, what does Mummie give Undercover Mama? Mummie gives them two nummie makers up with breastmilk on the side! I think I will be buying some more!

But wait.. the fun does not stop with me! Oh... please.... would I be Mummie if I did not spread the love?

Up for grabs is ONE Undercover Mama! Your choice, your size, your sweet sweet love!

Here is what you gotta do, as always super easy to enter, 'cause that's how we roll!

Giveaway ends on Friday October 26!
a Rafflecopter giveaway

Much Mummie Love and good luck!

Undercover Mama sent me a shirt to review at no cost to me. This review is honest and the words created from my head. Thank you Undercover Mama for sponsoring this review and giveaway!

Super Mummie

Sometimes we Mummies tend to hide our Super Hero capes. But it is nice to let them fly every once in a while.

You know you are a breastfeeding Mummie when...

There are some moments that only a breastfeeding Mummie would understand. Not everyone can understand those zany little comments or sly actions of a breastfed baby/toddler. I posted before about breastfeeding moments.... that makes you a breastfeeding mummie and since then.... I have found a few more to add to the list!

Here we go:

You might be a breastfeeding Mummie.... if......

*While showering with your Nummie Lover, (you are sitting on the shower seat) they walk around to your side and say "Mummie, I just want to kiss your nummies."
RIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!

*Also while in the shower.. your Nummie lover walks around you and says "Mommy I just wanna see your skin." Then while you are distracted washing your oldest daughter, your Nummie Lover raises your arm (WITHOUT you realizing) and proceeds to latch on and refuses to let go! (WAIT WHAT??!! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? Oh Daddy... we have a problem!)

*While shopping in the store with your two children, you pass a baby crying. Your oldest looks at you and says "Awwww. That baby is sad. He must want some Nummies." and to that your youngest looks at you and says "Yeah... how about your Nummies? I will share." (I laughed it off and walked faster!)

*Your Nummie Lover gets all snuggly and says "Mommy, I love your Nummies. They are yummy." When asked what they taste like, she responds with "They taste like you." (Yeah that one melted me!)

*We are in the throws of Child Lead Weaning. Which means Kit Kat is breastfeeding 1-3 times a week. Sometimes I am able to distract her with a snack (The term "eat" for food and "eat" for nummies are the same for her. So I try the "eat" for food first.) While at big sister's soccer game, your Nummie Lover creeps over to you, lays on your lap and says "Mommy I want some Nummmies." You respond with "Really?!" (Because a semi supportive family member is listening and you see them cringe from the corner of your eye.) She then says "Nah! I just pretending!" and struts off.

*Your Nummie Lover gets ALL excited when it is time for your monthly Breastfeeding Support Circle.... because.... "Can I watch the babies eat their nummies?!" Oddly enough you answer with "You have to ask them first."

*While you are getting dressed, you notice your Nummie Lover grinning at you.... you smile and think "Awwww! She loves me!" Then you realize... wait a minute.... she is not looking at my face.... she is looking....... down....... wait is that DROOL on her lips???? "HEY!!!!!! Stop that!!!" you say as you cover your exposed Nummie Makers. (I mean really..... I am not an all you can eat buffet! Right? Am I?)

*BOTH of your children get angry with you because "SHHHHHH!!!!! I'm feeding my baby!!!!!" (Sheesh! Sorry!! I will be quiet now.)

*You catch your Nummie Lover sitting in a quiet spot holding her baby doll. You ask if she is okay and she responds with "Baby got a booboo. She wanted my nummies." (oh okay... seems normal enough.)

*Your oldest daughter says "Mommy, I like your Nummies (meaning my nummie makers.) I hope I can give my baby my Nummies some day." (Sniff sniff.....Proud Mummie moment.)

*Your Nummie Lover offers YOU her nummies..... oh sweetie... no thank you.

*When you are out and about and notice a Mummie with a breastfed baby.... you smile. It is sorta like motorcycle etiquette.. instead of the Motorcycle Wave... it is the Mummie Smile.

Can you relate? Do you have any others to add?

You are my sunshine

It has been pretty gloomy here lately. Between the rain, the fog, and the clouds..... we have not seen the sun for DAYS. But who needs the sun when Kit Kat knows how to shine?!

Here is my sweet Kit Kat (34  months old) performing "You are My Sunshine."

Always remember, no matter what struggles you encounter, during your breastfeeding journey.... your Nummie Lover loves you and considers you their bright star.

Yupp... my day is brighter already!

SHINE on my Mummies.... shine on!
